Motorised Pool Roller for Swimming Pools

The Titan pool reel can be fitted to almost any in-ground swimming pool type, either during its initial construction or long after it was first built. To enable potential customers to check if the Titan will work on their pool, we have created this handy online tool which will quickly assess compatibility. Please enter the maximum Length and maximum Width of your pool below, and let the tool do the rest.

This tool is checking the following:

Limit 1: The maximum length of the pool cover should not exceed 20.0m (65'7").
Limit 2: The maximum width of the pool cover should not exceed 8.0m (26'3").
Limit 3: The maximum surface area of the pool cover should not exceed 80 square meters (860 sqr. feet).

Note that this online tool is designed for an initial basic check only, and assumes just one Titan Pool Reel would be used (which is the case for 95% of pools). In the event your pool does not pass this initial check, we would be happy to discuss innovative options which may be feasible. Equally, in the event your pool type does pass this basic checker, but you would still like us to double check anything for you, then also please contact us where we will be very happy to help.

Various pool types and solutions are also shown below to give you some ideas of what is possible and where is best to fit your Titan pool reel. The examples below also show how to 'push the limits' above if your swimming pool is outside of one or more of them.

Example 1. Rectangle pool with the reel next to a short side

This is a very popular swimming pool type and easily accommodates a Titan pool reel. In this first example, we have drawn the pool reel next to one of the shorter sides (which can be up to 8m / 26'3" wide). We have also shown the reel right up next to the water's edge such that as the reel unwinds, the pool cover falls directly onto the water. This is ideal, as being right up next to the water's edge encourages the pool cover to push itself out across the pool's surface when being unwound from the roller.

Example 2. Roman ended rectangle pool with the reel set back from a short side

Like Example 1 above, this style of pool is also an excellent candidate for a Titan Motorised Pool Roller. Here we have shown some recessed steps at one end, as ideally the reel would be located opposite them at the other end, making the steps easier to use. This example also shows the pool reel set back away from the water's edge with a gap. This gap is often desired, allowing users to walk more easily around the pool's edge or perhaps dive in from it. Therefore, in order to bridge this gap, the pool cover and reel are installed using longer 'reel to cover' straps (which we supply). But the downside of setting the reel back away from the water's edge is that the pool cover will no longer fall upon the water when unwinding. The solution then for this pool is to use the leading-edge towing / guide line (included) to assist the cover over the gap between the reel and the pool.

Example 3. Rectangle pool with steps on a long side

With any deck recessed steps installed on one of the pool sides, the optimum place for the reel would be opposite them (as shown here and in the previous example). In this example, that means the pool reel is on a long side rather than a short side. This is fine, so long as the long side is no longer than 8m / 26'3" (see Limit 1 above).

For pools where the long side is greater than 8m / 26'3", then the swimming pool reel needs to be on one of the short sides (like the ones shown in examples 1 & 2). If fitting the reel at the short side on a pool like this one, then consideration needs to be given for the piece of pool cover that goes over the steps. One solution is to not cover the steps at all and have a rectangular cover (again, like example 1). The other way is to fold the piece of pool cover (that sits over the steps) on top of the larger rectangular part of the pool cover prior to winding the pool cover in. An example of this is shown below in example 4.

Example 4. Freeform pools

Some pool shapes are completely curved, like peanut shapes and ovals. These do not present any great challenge for a Titan pool roller, as the straps that connect between the pool cover and roller can be fitted to bridge the variable gap as shown in this example.
Like the pool types above, so long as the longest part of the swimming pool cover is no greater than 8m / 26'3", then the reel can be fitted to any side. For this pool, as the 'straightest' edge is the long one at the top, the optimum place for the reel would also be at the top. However, if the longer part of the pool cover exceeds the 8m / 26'3" limit, then having the reel on one of the shorter sides will be the next best solution (as shown).

Concerning the side steps on example 3 above, or if some parts of the pool cover are wider than a narrow part of the pool which the cover will pass by, you are effectively asking the pool cover to become thinner as it moves past the narrow section. An example of this is shown here in example 4. To solve this, here we have shown part of the pool cover being flipped over on top of the big part prior to being reeled in. Another approach would be to simply trim this piece of pool cover off and either manually place it on the water when required, or simply not cover that small part of the pool.
